Name: Remote My Condor Submit
Description:
STFC has assembled the
RMCS suite of software applications and libraries with support from the Natural Environment Research Council, as part of the e-Minerals e-Science Project.
RMCS is designed for Grid job submission from the desktop
RMCS is the e-Minerals Project's primary tool for submitting jobs to a compute grid environment. The client tools provide a light-weight web services interface to the main job submission engine without the user needing to install standard middleware tools.
RMCS handles authentication using Globus’s myproxy tool. The key features of
RMCS are a close integration to the use of a data grid for data and application staging and for creating complete archives of data files, metascheduling across a range of compute resources, automatic metadata harvesting, and tools for monitoring and managing the progress of a job.
RMCS makes submission of jobs to compute grids from the desktop easy!
RMCS can be run using shell tools or from a graphical user interface.
The
RMCS Software Suite comprises:
A web services wrapping of MCS called
RMCS (R for remote), enabling scientists to submit jobs from their desktops. MCS is a Grid job submission tools based on globus and using the Condor-G wrapping of Globus job submission commands. MCS includes integration with the
SRB, automatic metadata capture through interaction with the RCommands tool, and metascheduling within the e-Minerals mini-grid and to external grid resources such as campus grids and the National Grid Service. There are also combinatorial job creation and submission tools, based on the use of (R)MCS.
