MCS Dev/RN1.4.1

Version 1.4.1 was release in November 2007

Release notes

  • This version fixes two major and long-standing usability issues:
  1. Failures of the pre job are now available on the submitting machine and are reported via RMCS. "Executable does not exist" errors from the main job are now much more likely to relate to a lack of executable rather then any failure of the pre script.
  2. Some users may have experienced some difficulties with restarts. Specifically, if a first job performers "Sput *" after completion then attempt a restart with "Sget *" from the same directory then the second job will fail. This is because the pre script will fail to download the executable as a file of that name will have been downloaded from the output of the first job. This is no longer a problem in the common case described as the executable is now downloaded with the "-f" flag passed to the Sget command.

  • MCS no longer submits the main job if the pre job fails on the gatekeeper. Instead a file is placed on the local disk and the job is removed from the condor queue. This enables RMCS to remove a long standing usability bug. (Bug 84 (
  • Internally MCS and the pre script now support the per-directory use of the -f flag for file download. This is set to true by default for the directory determined by pathToExecutable removing a common cause of errors when attempting to perform restarts (see above).
