GROWL Software Development Processes and Procedures

Version Number Policy

Version numbers shall be in the form major. minor. increment

major changes whenever a substantially different version of the product is released

minor changes whenever new functionality has necessitated an interface change

increment changes each time we re-release the software unless major or minor have also changed.

Release procedure

  • Software should be extracted from svn
  • A release package should be made
  • The release package should be shown to work on our target platforms by running a series of tests (currently one platform will suffice, but in the future mroe than one will be needed)

Testing

  • Info on our test programs should go here
