Visualisation Services and High Performance Computing

Breakout session at 20th Daresbury Machine Evaluation Workshop.

This took place on 1st December 2009 in the Holiday Inn, Runcorn. The Visualisation breakout session was scheduled from 15:30-18:00 in the Halton Suite. Around 30 people attended the session.

We started with a few short talks and followed up with an open discussion.

Discussion

One focus of the discussion was the need to analyse large quantities of data. It is clearly preferable to do the analysis in situ rather than moving the data. Paul Hatton noted that the DCV server can be freely installed for academic use and this was confirmed by Jim Roach (IBM). The data can then be analysed and viewed remotely and collaboratively.
