Dear All (and please broadcast to others who I forget),
It is soon to be exactly three years since our Portals and Portlets
2003 workshop. We are therefore organizing a similar event to review
progress and best practice within the international community. This is
to be held again at the UK National e-Science Centre in
Edinburgh. Please see the information and registration page at the
above URL. These will be updated over the next few weeks.
I am sending a reminder for this event to seek input and offers of
additional technical presentations from which we will select the most
relevant. I realize I do not have a complete list of those who might
be interested, so I am hoping word will spread. We are particularly
interested in technical input of a novel nature, such as use of new
standards, interoperability, success in developing highly-functional
portlets, solutions to authorization issues, portals using workflow,
WSRF, etc. Usability of Web interfaces is being handled separately.
As last time we will also try to unite the e-Research (we are now
using that name) and the Digital Information communities as there is
currently a lot of interest in providing commonly-used services. We
are also looking at portals as a User Interface component in a Service
Oriented e-Framework, so there will be reports on activities in this
area.
We are hoping to have a hands-on tutorial on developing portlets for
uPortal on day 3, 19th July.
Please register for the event at the above URL if you would like to
attend.
Best wishes, Rob
(R.J. Allan)
